Avery Barker's Testimonial

I visited River House many times during my childhood, and there are so many memories that still stay with me to this day. During Christmas, our whole extended family was able to visit, and all stay together in the same house, as kids we stayed up late playing Guitar Hero and Halo in the private theatre room, star-gazing from the crow's nest, and having snowball fights in the plaza. 

As a teenager, I went for a whole month to help my grandfather maintain the house and land; some of my favorite memories are from all of the wildlife and scenery. At lunch, I would sit on the second-floor patio and look out over the Bulkley Valley. While we worked on the fence line, we saw so much wildlife, like baby deer, moose, and all kinds of other critters. While we worked on the land there was a beautiful silence, no noise pollution, just nature. On our breaks from working, we would walk down the property to the Bulkley River, where we were able to fish right from the shore.
